The Ikat fabrics are particularly famous for their intricate designs. The techniques used to weave these fabrics take years of learning. Each individual product represents several months of handwork by highly skilled weavers. Not only are these patterns beautiful to the discerning buyer. They also contain a spiritual motif which plays a role in many of the longhouse religious feasts.
